About This Knife
This compact funayuki comes from Tosa, a region known for its hand-forged working blades. The rustic kurouchi finish is left intentionally dark from the forging process, preserving the character of the steel and reducing unnecessary refinement.
At just 67g, this knife is exceptionally light. The thin grind and compact profile make it ideal for small prep work, in-hand vegetable trimming, herbs, garlic, shallots, and detail tasks where a full-sized santoku feels oversized.
The blade has a raw, forged character. The spine and shoulders show the handwork typical of Tosa blades. It’s built for performance first, aesthetics second.
The magnolia wa-handle with buffalo horn ferrule keeps the balance forward and controlled, allowing precise tip work and clean slicing.
This is not a decorative piece.
It’s a small, highly practical prep knife with traditional roots.
A nimble little workhorse that disappears in your hand and just cuts.
